We visited "Fukujyu Onsen" in Makizonochō Santaidō, Kirishima. The hot spring source of this onsen was drilled 30 years ago according to the word of the local prophet.

The manager Chimi welcomed us at the reception with a smile. She says all the visitors are friends and chatting with the friends is always fun, and actually she enjoys talking to every single visitor.

The dressing room is very simple, you should keep your valuables by yourself.

The water is not recycled and coloured yellow. When you ease into the bath, you will feel the bath is a little bit hot, however, after you get accustomed to the temperature, you will be relaxed and de-stressed. Locals say the water treats diabetes, and it is proved by the research performed by an university. Many visitors say "The bath is really good as reputed." whey leaving the bathhouse.

A large amount of water always flow out of the faucet. It is a really good value that we can take a bath with such fresh water only for JPY 100. On a day we visited, a lot of visitors came to Fukujyu Onsen.

He is a frequent bather Hiroshi who comes to Fukujyu Onsen every two or three days. He came with his son on this day.

There also is a cold water bath filled with ground water. Many frequent bathers take the hot bath and the cold bath one after the other. This groundwater is sold as a Kirishima natural water.

This is the lounge. Local people sell fresh vegetables and plant seeds. Locals and frequent visitors get together here and chat with Chimi. The lounge serves as a place for social interaction.
