With the owner Mitsuki Okubo, in front of the entrance

We visited Nagayu Onsen “Naganoyu” in Nagayu, Taketa, Ōita.

This is the reception counter. Although it is unstaffed, make sure to put the entrance fee.

The dressing room is very clean. Also, there are lockers to keep your valuables safe.

This is the bathroom. The bathtub is filled with cloudy hot spring water. The temperature is approx. 42°C|107.6°F which is slightly low among hot springs in the Nagayu Onsen area. Frequent bathers say this hot spring treats rheumatism and atopy.

The water gurgles out of the faucet. This hot spring contains a rich amount of carbon dioxide gas, and, according to the owner, some hot spring gas lovers frequently come to Naganoyu. Actually, we felt the smell of gas; however, don’t worry the room is properly ventilated.

He is a frequent bather Syoichi. He is 81 years old and lives nearby. He enjoys going to an onsen in a daily rotation.

Naganoyu opened in 1999. The owner Mitsuki originally drilled a hot spring for his private use. However, the reputation spread to the locals, and then he decided to open a public bathhouse for them.

Mitsuki has a lot of Beagle dogs. You can play with lovely puppies. He hunts approx. 100 boars and deer every year, the dogs accompany him when hunting.

Naganoyu is situated at the middle of rural field. After taking a bath to relax your body, please take a time to relax your mind in the nature.
